While many of you have been struggling with cold and snow at this time, we are in our warm summer season here in Tacna. The Lord has given us many opportunities so far this year to serve and minister. Thank you for your prayers during this busy and fun time of year!
Meet Zachary!
We are happy to announce that Zachary Paul was born January 24th at 1:15 in the afternoon. He weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. and was 19 1/2 in. long. We appreciate your prayers for he and Sara and are thankful to the Lord for a safe delivery and a healthy baby!
On the Rock or on the Sand?
We chose to use this question as our theme for this year. Through messages preached and lessons taught, we are analyzing our Christian walk, starting at salvation, to be sure that it is founded on the Rock!
Missions Trip
Our first church missions trip was a great success. Eleven people were able to make the trip to La Paz, Bolivia, January 10-18. I was not able to go due to the closeness of the trip to Zachary’s birth, but we were encouraged to hear how the Lord worked. That week, our folks were able to help conduct a VBS that averaged 140 children each day. Many salvation decisions were made, and the host church is following up on those. The people from our church returned with a greater desire to serve the Lord.
Revival Meeting
February 5-9 we were able to hold a revival meeting with Pastor David Ramos, who works in the city of Juliaca. In celebration of Calvary Baptist Church’s 15th anniversary, we set a goal of 150 in attendance on February 9th. Through much work and prayer, the Lord gave us our goal. We had at least 30 visitors present who heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. We also had 3 young ladies follow the Lord in believer’s baptism, including Missionary Jonathan Earnhart’s daughter, Amanda.
Spiritual Battles
We thank the Lord for the great spirit in our church over the last several weeks. The Lord is moving! However, Satan is fighting hard as well. There are some families in our church who are going through incredible spiritual battles. Please pray fervently for these situations! (I Jn. 4:4)
Vacation Bible School
We were able to hold 2 weeks of VBS in January and February with the theme, “Rally Calvario.” Salvation messages were taught each day using traffic signals. Our first week was held right across the street from our church. We started with only 23 children, but that number doubled by the second day, and we had an average of 50 children for the week. Our second week of VBS was held in a location where we have never before held a VBS. We averaged 50 or more children that week. Please pray for us as we follow up and prepare to begin a Bible study in this needy area.
Thank you to so many of you for the kind packages and special offerings sent for Christmas. You are such a tremendous blessing to our family and ministry, and we could not do what we do without you!
