July/August 2010 Prayer Letter
Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
Church Updates:
In July,
we celebrated Vision Baptist Church’s
2-Year Anniversary. More than 80 people
came for the special service that included guest
speakers and a “bestplate” cooking contest. We
also had a time of fellowship the following
Saturday, with a church picnic in a park outside
the city. It was quite a month of celebration
with the church all decked out to celebrate
Perú’s Independence Day on the 28th as well.
August has
been “Missions Month” with the teaching,
preaching, and music all focusing on this theme.
This has been the first time for most to learn
about Faith Promise giving and to make
commitments to give to missions. At the end of
the month we are preparing to have the church’s
1st Missions Conference. How
exciting to see Perúvians who have surrendered
to the call to missions now coming to share
their burden with us! Please pray that God would
work in our people’s hearts and give them a
greater burden for lost souls.
We are thrilled to see the church growing and
expanding! In the month of September,
several new ministries will begin.
✦
Ladies Bible Study: We are praying that many
will come out - ladies who still need Christ,
new believers like Olga, and others who need to
continue growing and learning more.
✦
Sunday Morning Children’s Class: We are working
to fix up an area on the 2nd floor of the church
as a classroom for this. Thanks to your prayers
and generous giving, we have the funds necessary
to make these repairs.
✦
Tuesday Evening Group Discipleship So much going
on, but what a joy to have the privilege to
serve our Lord!
Family: Our family is doing
very well. We’ll soon celebrate Josiah’s 3rd
birthday. Caleb is becoming an expert climber.
They are excited that, Lord willing, at the end
of November, they’ll be getting
a new baby brother.
Please continue to pray for health for Sara and
the baby.
Answered Prayer:
In our last prayer letter we asked for prayer
for the salvation of several folks. Well, glory
to God, on August 19,
Olga accepted Christ as her Savior! Thank
you so much for praying for her! We had been
visiting her every Thursday evening for the past
2 or 3 months, sharing the Gospel each time, and
this time she finally understood. We were
excited to see her out for the service on Sunday
morning with a new spirit about her (Phil. 4:7).
Thank the Lord for His saving power! Please pray
for
her to be faithful to God’s
house and to grow spiritually.
Please continue to pray for
the salvation of Jesús, Luis, Lucy, and Otie.
Thank you so much for all you do to see souls
saved here in Perú!
Your Servants in Perú,
Robert, Sara, Josiah & Caleb Stover |
